The Questions & Answers

1. Tell us more about yourself.
Hi everyone, my name is Leon, and I am born and raised in Singapore! I am currently at a very youthful age of 26 this year (self-denial, haha) and I am a Network Engineer by profession! My hobbies are Computer/Mobile Games, Bowling, riding my E-Scooter along the beach-side, watching Action/War films and occasionally go for hikes!

When I was younger, I aspired to be an Astrologist (Surprised huh?) but as time goes by and reality kicks in, my focus shifted to the games industry where I hope to contribute in a project where we can build an extremely nice and positive community!

2. How did you came up with the nickname 'LeonZai'?
This may sound strange, but when I met my first girlfriend back in 2004, where we still very young (I was 14 at the time), she gave us like "Nicknames" to call each other to sound cooler. So at that era, the tag "Zai" was pretty much very commonly used in the game Maplestory. For example, JordanZai, DamnZai, whateverZai haha.

So, she decided to give me the nickname "LeonZai" as she felt it rhyme very well together. "Zai" means "Steady" in our Singaporean lingo, or a very capable person. Seeing how it blended so well, I just stuck with it since then, and 12 years later I'm still using it!

3. When did you first started online video streaming about mobile games?
I first started streaming PC games, mainly Diablo 3 back in 2013 when it first released. When I started Brave Frontier in the early 2014, I started streaming mobile games for the first time, in April 2014 on Twitch.tv and have been partnered with them since Nov/Dec 2014.

4. What are the other game titles you have played and covered thus far?
The games I have played and covered were mostly Brave Frontier, and I did brief videos about Chain Chronicles, Chaos Dynasty, Elune Saga, 3K: Art of War, League of Angels II, and Heroes of Incredible Tales (HIT).

Due to work and time constraints, I'm mainly going to focus on Valiant Force as my main project at the moment.

5. Aside from mobile games, do you have plans to cover games on other platforms such as PC, Console, or even VR?
I have actually thought of covering PC games or Console. However with the current work and availability of free time may hinder me from stretching beyond mobile game coverage at the moment. I have a PS4 actually just sitting around and I barely have time to touch it :(

Realistically, If I had a stable monetary support from game companies or a very dedicated pool of supporters, I may be able to take more time off to focus on game coverage more.

6. What motivates you to continue and keep up with the good work?
I guess it can be put into one word, Passion.

Since I was 9, games have always been a lifestyle for me regardless of genre. When I really like the game, I would go all out for it. But seeing how a good community can impact the health and enjoyment of the game, that is where I really wanted to build for myself and for the other players in the game. Thus, my communities started.

7. What is your greatest achievement thus far?
I felt my biggest breakthrough was building multiple communities for Brave Frontier. I had two forums previously, hosting both the Global and Europe server and have worked together with the staff to create the Affiliate program for both video content creation and website content. This resulted in building a network of gaming companies and having opportunities to work with them on their game titles.

8. What are your upcoming plans for the future?
At this point of time, my hope is for the community to grow in my YouTube and also Facebook pages. Once the communities are big enough, hopefully I could partner with one of the game publishers as a "Representative" to their titles. Whenever there is a game event, hopefully I would be given an opportunity to meet and understand the players needs and advocate for them accordingly.

9. If you are given a chance to start all over again in life, would you still choose to do online video streaming or perhaps something different?
If I were given a chance to start all over again, I'll probably ask myself why didn't I start earlier. haha.

10. Do you have a message for your followers?
My deepest and most sincere gratitude to the supporters who have been through with me thick and thin throughout the years on my social channels! Without you, there is no "LeonZai". Thank you for all time watching my videos and I have that we have many more years to go together in games together!
